ECKERNFORDE EDUCATION INSTITUTE-TANGA INTRODUCTION The Eckernforde Education Institute is housed in a two-wing 5/6 storey building block in the central area of Tanga Municipality along Eckernforde Steet and Guinea Avenue, near Mkwakwani Stadium. The Institute is a Private Non-Profit Organization and runs four institutions as shown below:

1: TANZANIA INSTITUTE OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRIES:

The Institute is registered with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare under Registration Certifcate No. VTC/0476. The Intitute was formerly known as Tanga Mechanical and Driving School. The Institute conducts the following courses;

> ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION.
* The course leads to Grade III,II and I Certificates
* Minimum Qualification - Primary Education
* Course duration --------- 2years for Grade III
---------------------------------- Grade I & II -one year each

> MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANICS
* The course leads to Grade III, II & I Certificates
* Minimum Qualification - Primary Education
* Course duration ---------- 2years for Grade III
----------------------------------- Grade II & I one year each.
* N.B The courses are conducted in accordance with the VETA's Curricula
* At the end of the course the students sit for the VETA Trade Test
* The successful candidates are issued with TRADE TEST CERTIFICATES by the Vocational Education and Training Authority[VETA]

> MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVING COURSE
* Minimum Qualification - Primary Education
* Course duration --------- one and a half month
* On successful completion of the course , the student is awarded a Driving Licence and the Institute's Certificate of Attendance.

> BASIC TRAINING IN COMPUTER
* Course duration ---------- six months
* Minimum Qualification -- Primary Education
* Course content ----------- Introduction to Computer and Keyboard Operations
----------------------------------- Disk Operation {DOS}
----------------------------------- English
----------------------------------- Microsoft Word.
----------------------------------- Microsoft Excel.
----------------------------------- Microsoft Access.
----------------------------------- Microsoft Power Point.
----------------------------------- Microsoft Publisher.

ELECTRONICS AND TELEVISION SERVICES:
Course duration - 2 years
- Minimum qualification - Primary Education
----------------------------------- Must possess Basic Certificate in Installation or its equivalent.
